Came across this photography site (via DesignPorn) - I love the tiny animals! I also want to work out how to make my digital photos seem less crisp (short of using Photoshop); seems kinda backwards but I love the saturated, grainy textures of traditional film. Oh, and yes, I know I could just use my film camera… but it’s expenssssivvvvveeee.

I’d really like to get back into 3D modelling and video; this is the official video from Official music video for ‘Ljósið’ taken from Ólafur Arnalds - ‘Found Songs’ (2009) album. It’s beautiful.

Once upon a time 3D stuff was all I cared about - I’d carry a mini portfolio about with me (geek) but for some reason now all I do is websites. Don’t get me wrong, websites are cool and that but when I eventually do something for myself I would like it to be more creative and forthehellofit.

Anonymous asked: HDR isn't necessarily either made with a RAW photo or bracketed exposure. In fact, the full range of colors and exposures can only be captured fully by bracketing RAW images.

Everyday’s a school day! I’ll try RAW images next time I’ve got some spare time - for some reason my Photoshop wouldn’t let me open Canon RAW? Seems odd as it’s a common brand and I’m using CS5? I must be missing a trick somewhere…

HDR funtimes.

I’ve seen a lot of HDR imagery on the web and it varies in quality drastically. I thought I’d give it a bash and see how it came out. I created this using Auto Exposure Bracketing (as opposed to a RAW image) on my Canon 1000D. Please excuse the lame self-portrait.

HDR Me.

I’m not amazed at the outcome (some of these are, however, amazing) but there’s a quality I particularly like about this image; I think it’s the level of detail (ahem, focus) in some areas, such as the hood.

My major gripe with the majority of HDR photography is the fantasy feel to a lot of them - I think it’s a bit naff - but some shots (in particular portraits) are just stunning.

Emma’s Birthday Camping

We went camping for Emma’s 23rd birthday. Lots of marshmallowy fun!

I’d like to take more portrait photos of people. Like this one.

Real Life

I’m currently in Manchester looking for flats. I’ve found a bunch of nice ones (one really nice one). This is kinda terrifying. I’ve quite enjoyed the past couple of weeks being uni-free but it’s all starting to feel quite real now! I am running out of money and beginning to realise that I really need to get myself organised for the immediate future and I think Manchester is where I want to spend it!

However, while I need to get this job malarky sorted I also have to make sure I stay on top of things SlopeScope related as I’m exhibiting at NewDesigners in London (July 8th - 11th , if interested get in touch and I can perhaps arrange a complimentary ticket). So, in short, everything is very exciting just now… and stressful. *sigh*

This is frickin’ sweet!

Wish I’d seen this before. I’m in love with the cybraphon - affected by it’s online reviews ( and the emotions people express towards it through facebook, twitter etc ) the ‘band in a box’ plays music that reflects it’s current public status.

Degree Show 2010

Well, a week or two since my last entry I have finally found some time to wrap this year up…

I recieved my degree classification: a First - yay - the exhibition space looks fantastic, the opening night went well and so far SlopeScope seems to be holding out on me; which makes a nice change (edit: it died today, hopefully I can fix this. dammit fixed!). Things are looking good.

We have had a lot of visitors through the space and I have been getting some really, really positive feedback about the idea with some people urging me to get some form of IP protection on the go pronto!

However, whilst the space is sweet and the entire degree show is good (and man, it IS good, very proud to be exhibiting amongst so many talented people) I still need to focus on having a real life now that university is over and that means finding a job. The dream job at Apple I wanted to apply for has been closed and I’m kicking myself for not getting organised and applying quick enough, but hey, maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Sad face.

Amongst all this job hunting I’m also trying to keep up-to-date with freelance; a number of my clients have been very patient whilst I’ve been finishing up (thank you guys) but I now need to get their jobs finished. Busy busy.
